A GIR getaway has two halves and both of them matter. Mornings belong to the tournament — you and your partner against the field. Afternoons and evenings belong to you, the resort, and a room full of women who just watched you make a putt.

Run by the GIR team, start to finish. You arrive with your clubs and a handicap; everything on the card is handled.

The format

You and one other woman, against the field

Every GIR tournament is played in teams of two. You and your partner post a team score in every round, and you stay together for the whole tournament. The scoring format — best ball, scramble or alternate shot — is set per getaway and published with the field.

Register as a pair if you already have someone. If you don't, register on your own and we'll match you before you travel — on handicap and on what you tell us about how you like to play. Most of our women come this way, and partners have a habit of becoming standing ones.

Flights

Teams play teams of the same standard

Teams are flighted by combined handicap once registration closes, so a pair breaking 90 and a pair breaking 110 are both genuinely in contention — in their own flight, for their own prizes.

The draw

You meet new women every round

Your team goes out alongside another team, drawn by GIR and posted the night before at the cocktail hour. The other pair rotates each round, so by the final day you've played with women from right across the field.

Scoring

A leaderboard that actually moves

Team scores, gross and net, by flight, updated as cards come in. It's posted in the clubhouse and on your phone, which is how the back nine gets tense and dinner gets loud.

Prizes

Handed out at the last dinner

Flight winners, the overall team title, closest to the pin, long drive and the skins pot — plus points towards the Order of Merit. The trophy photo is non-negotiable.

Treatments booked ahead through GIR, a lounger with your name on it, or nine more holes if you're chasing a number.

Group dinners at the resort or somewhere worth the drive. No seating chart to negotiate, no table of strangers.

We choose the
resort for the
whole trip

A great course attached to a disappointing hotel makes for a long week. We pick properties where the course is worth the tournament and the rest of it holds up — the rooms, the spa, the bar at six o'clock, the dinner you'll remember.

The whole field stays on property. That is deliberate. It's why you run into your playing partner at breakfast and end up at the pool with her by two.
